Renting costume for fancy dress parties
This is a subject that has been debated many many times between myself and friends and to be very honest we don’t have a definitive answer as the particular events dictate what is best to do. Probably like most of you we do enjoy going out, when possible, dressed in fancy dress. It just helps break up the normal routine and also its great fun, and this is where the whole debate around renting costumes comes in.
When we simply go out to the local bars and enjoy ourselves, maybe end up at a night clubs or 2, this is when you want to actually buy a costume. On some of these nights can end up with a few too many drinks or a late night snack. If you are renting a costume then this is a really frustrating predicament as you will no doubt end up spending more money on getting the costume cleaned.
Are there any benefits to renting costumes?
Yes there definitely are benefits to renting a costume and the obvious one is that you will get a much better quality of costume without doubt. If you do decide to rent then ensure that it is for a special occasion like a charity event, or a family birthday or something similar. If you want to really look the best you can be then renting has its benefits. To buy a similar quality costume from a retailer could set you back well over £100 but renting a quality costume can cost you from as little as £20 per day.
Conclusion
It really does depend on the occasion that you are getting dressed up for. If you run the risk of damaging a rented costume then don’t take the risk as the charges could be very expensive. Simply buying a costume will be around the same value as a daily rental but if you do get it dirty, stained or completely trashed then you can simply put it in the bin. If you need the quality to get you noticed, like running the London Marathon, then yes, rent and enjoy!
